Getting started

From installation to your first roast record

Install the Roast Pi desktop app, connect your machine, then save and compare your first record by following the actual screen flow.

Download the app Create account

Install and connect your account

Install Roast Pi and connect the account you will use to start roast records.

Open the web Download page, get the installer for your operating system, and install the app.
When the app opens, the Roasting tab appears at the top. You can explore Roasting Machine registration and Profile comparison without signing in.
To start recording a roast, open Account Settings → Connect Web Account and connect your web account to the app. If you do not have an account, use the No account? Sign up on the web link.

Completion check

When Account Dashboard and Usage appear in Account Settings, you are ready to press Start for a roast.

Complete the initial setup

Select the Roasting Machine tab at the top.
Select + Add Machine, enter the machine name, brand, and connection mode, then select Save.
Choose Activate This Machine on its card, then configure the temperature channels under Machine Settings → Sensors and select Save.

Completion check

The connection is ready when BT and ET values appear in the Roasting tab.

Record your first roast

Start a roast, record BT, ET, and ROR curves live, and finish the record at drop.

Select Start at the top of the Roasting tab. (Sign-in and an internet connection are required.)
While the roast is running, follow the BT, ET, and ROR changes and the time display on the chart.
At drop, select Complete to finish the record.

Completion check

After Complete, the Save button becomes available and the batch details appear under Record / Evaluation in the right panel.

Save and find the record

Enter green-coffee and batch details, save the roast record to your computer, and find it again in the list.

In the right panel of the Roasting tab, enter Coffee / Environment Information, Charge, Drop, and other details under Main.
Select Save at the top.
Open the Profiles tab and confirm that the record you just saved appears at the top of the list.

Completion check

You can find the record by date or green-coffee name in the Profiles list. If an account is connected, the app also attempts a cloud upload after saving.

After selecting at least two records in Profiles, select Compare to overlay solid and dashed curves with numbers 1 and 2 in the Roasting tab.

Compare earlier records

Overlay two or more saved records and compare differences in their BT, ET, and ROR curves.

In the Profiles tab, select at least two records with Ctrl+click (or Shift+click).
Select Compare at the bottom.
When the app switches to the Roasting tab, the selected BT, ET, and ROR curves appear over the same timeline. Select Clear to exit.

Completion check

Use the color numbers (1, 2…), legend, and timeline (0:00 onward) to visually compare the BT, ET, and ROR curves.

Common questions when getting started

These answers reflect the current app. Check them if you get stuck signing in, connecting a machine, or finding a record.

What should I do if the equipment will not connect?

In the Roasting Machine tab, confirm that you selected the card with the Active Machine badge.

Check whether BT and ET values appear in the Roasting tab. If there is no connection, the app shows ⚠ Machine Disconnected.

Open Machine Settings → Sensors, re-enter the port (COM, for example) and temperature-channel settings, then select Save.

Where can I find a saved record?

Use Find Records at the top of the Profiles tab to search by green-coffee name, note, tag, or date.

Sort by Newest to place the record you just saved at the top of the list.

To reopen one record, select its row and then select Open.

Which actions require sign-in?

To use Start (begin a roast record), connect a web account under Account Settings and connect to the internet.

Cloud upload and web analysis run when you Save after connecting an account.

Without signing in, you can still register a Roasting Machine, Save locally, Compare, and browse Profiles.
